Welcome to the Visual Learners Guide to Encryption Algorithms.
I am a visual learner. I am always taking notes and scribbling diagrams when I am exposed to a new concept.
Throughout School and University, I would (and still do) get frustrated when educators don’t include diagrams/graphics/videos in lessons that clearly lend themselves well to such mediums. I compare it to trying to teach human biology without a single diagram of the human body. From my experience, things like matrix multiplication, projectile motion or even calculus were sometimes taught to me with zero visual aids. I do acknowledge though that not all things can be taught this way, and the learning styles of everyone are different. Somebody with an auditory learning style may not find this series as helpful as a podcast.
This series titled “The Visual Learners Guide to Encryption Algorithms” aims to explain the most common security algorithms in use today in the most visual manner possible. I will look to use as many originally produced visual aids as I can – pictures, infographics, animations and videos. However, this does not eliminate the need for accompanying bodies of text. Moreover, this series will be targeted at visual learners with a basic understanding of Computer Science and Maths fundamentals. It will also be written in a casual tone.
